Homemade Vegan Chocolate Spread

By Saturday, August 30, 2014

I have a huge thing for nutella. It is just so good! I decided to create my own vegan version in the hope that I could gain some sort of health benefits whilst indulging in a tasty chocolate spread! Walnuts work really well in this as they add a delicious earthy flavour. They are amazing for your heart as they are full of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients. Coconut oil helps to lower your risk of heart disease and is also really amazing for your skin and hair. Maple syrup acts as a natural sweetener and almond milk is high in omega fatty acids, so another ingredient that is really good for your heart. It is amazingly quick and easy to make. Serve it on toast, with pancakes, in porridge, with yoghurt or in vegan baking!

You will need:
120g walnuts, roasted
3 tsp cocoa powder
5 tbsp maple syrup
11 tbsp coconut oil
4 tbsp almond/coconut milk

Blitz the walnuts in a food processor until a paste forms.

Add in the cocoa, maple syrup, coconut oil and milk and blend until everything is well combined. Spoon into an airtight jar and enjoy!
